We make many decisions over the course of a day, a year, or a lifetime. Each choice starts us on a path that often has a predetermined outcome. Some choices we are forced to make, while others are done out of a sense of desire, or simply because there is a choice to be made.

Some of the paths upon which we embark are smooth and pleasant and satisfying. Others are riddled with snares, potholes, and danger. Many paths come with warning signs, but we have the option to heed the signs or move forward even at peril of death.

Proverbs 13:24 and 14:1-2 address options and choices

“Those who spare the rod of discipline hate their children; Those who love their children care enough to discipline them. A wise woman builds her home, but a foolish woman tears it down with her own hands. Those who follow the right path fear the Lord; those who take the wrong path despise him.”

The lack of discipline at home and in every part of society is a horrible travesty. Parents are more interested in being BFF’s and tour guides for their children than in raising them to be contributing citizens. Respect is gone. Honor is gone. Godliness is fast disappearing. I believe that this is due to reliance upon the humanist religion of psychology rather that obedience to God’s word.

Due to the current condition of the social and moral conventions of the day, more women are walking away from their homes, their children and respect even for themselves. Women’s prisons are full. Women are becoming more violent and more selfish because their value in Christ is not realized.

When we choose the right path, or the path of righteousness, we base our choices on the scripture and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Our desire is to raise our children in a loving discipline oriented way that honors God and benefits our society. Women who understand the value God has placed on their lives as represented by the sacrifice of Christ, understand biblical roles and seek to honor God by their actions, speech and comportment. This brings decency and goodness and order and hopefulness back to the forefront of our society

The next time you make a choice and start down a path, make sure to heed any warnings, to remember that there is usually a right and a wrong option, and also to invite God to walk with you so that the outcomes and final destination of the journey bring safety, satisfaction and fulfillment.
