In times of crisis, people are the most open to considering an answer or hope from God. The churches of the world that teach the truth of the bible are often the very means by which truth and hope are disseminated.
In the aftermath of 911, churches were bursting at the seams for several weeks as people and politicians, sought to address their fears and to seek spiritual guidance. When singular tragedy occurs in life, people in general need answers to their spiritual questions.
Here we are, in the midst of the Chinese Novelle Corona – 19 virus disaster, and the church has been prohibited from public worship. In other words, it is assumed by society and government that God is not relevant in this situation. This enigmatic, puzzling, senseless approach is problematic.
From the perspective of humanism, it is more important to keep pot shops, pot dispensaries, liquors stores, and bars open, than to allow people to come together for worship. What an indicator of the hold that Satan has over this world in which we live.
Even the wrangling over the aid package from congress is packed full of money to fund both despicable services and non-essential waste of funds, which would not provide one cent toward in the crisis. Here are a few items, including but not limited to:
Guaranteed funding for Planned Parenthood
A bailout for the U.S. Postal Service
Student loan debt forgiveness
Required same-day voter registration
Airline emissions standards regulations
Study on climate change migration
Collective bargaining provisions
Increased federal minimum wage for companies that accept government loans
Publication of race and pay statistics for corporate boards
Dozens of other provisions allocating money to universities, the JFK Performing Arts Center, IRS, NOAA, museums, migration assistance
There’s even a requirement that the federal government use more minority banks and credit unions
The bill would cost taxpayers more than $2.5 trillion and would require certain Americans — individuals who make more than $75,000 and couples who make more than $150,000 in 2020 — to pay back the stimulus check, essentially forcing a significant portion of Americans to receive a government loan.
Government cannot solve the root problem of the evil, sickness, and selfishness of the human condition. man cannot reverse the problem of evil and its outcomes.
5 Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. 6 So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. 7 For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God’s laws, and it never will. 8 That’s why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God. (Romans 8:5-8)
Keeping bars, pot shops, liquor stores, and pot dispensaries open is not a way to help in this crisis. As a matter of fact, it offers more opportunity for addiction, abuse and harm for individuals and families. Pushing funding for liberal progressive ideology doesn’t help with the health crisis. Funding “the arts” does not create a stream for people whose weekly financing and retirement savings are disappearing.
We need the church to be the harbinger of hope in these trying times. God can use this crisis to reach untold numbers of people who might not otherwise consider an encounter with him. We have a constitutional right and a mandate from God as an essential service bringing spiritual guidance and hope to the hopeless, the anxious, the suffering and those seeking answers to the spiritual questions produced by the current situation which affects all of us.
Satan does not want people to turn to God in this mess in which we find ourselves. God want us to join in reaching any and all who might respond to him as they face uncertainty. We need to do what we can to serve God’s kingdom in this crisis.
