During this panic infested, overly hyped time of anxiety and stress, we need more than ever in recent history to humble ourselves before the Lord and pray for the people of this nation and the world. We need to use social media and whatever means available to offer the hope of the gospel so some might come to God in the midst of this health scare.
The government can shut down the country, and the symptoms can be treated, but ultimately God will have his way. He often allows trials and hardship to occur so that his people will draw closer to him. He allows the sinful decisions of people to affect the world so that some might seek his help and deliverance.
This current crisis is manufactured. It is nothing more than the sinfulness of a communist government that tried to cover up and lied about this virus. The sinfulness of man comes from the sin nature of man. The Communists are atheists. The deny God’s existence and act outside the realm of anything that resembles a loving, caring approach to helping and giving succor to those in need. They will lie, cover up, and blame shift in order to make themselves to appear innocent. This behavior is a product of the work of Satan, plain and simple.
We have no idea what will be the final outcome of the infection, or for that matter, the consequences of all the machinations to combat its spread. Sin is the root of this entire issue. Deliberate sin has sent this world spiraling toward hopelessness. Our finances and our livelihoods are being destroyed by sin. Our emotional health is being affected by sin. Our spiritual strength and the hope that God is in control is all we have as we wait out this storm.
It is time for God’s people to fall on their faces to worship and seek him. It is time for all those who have been playing church to repent and call on the mercy of God so that they can join true believers in prayer. It is also time for those who have denied God to repent of their sins, receive God’s gracious gift of salvation and to seek him rather than relying only on the efforts and guesses of men.
We need to share the truth. The truth of the gospel which the Holy Spirit can use to change eternal trajectories, as well as the truth that the media outlets will not share.
12 “Even now,” declares the LORD, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning. 13 Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the LORD your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity. ” (Joel 2:12-13)
4 When I heard these things, I sat down and wept. For some days I mourned and fasted and prayed before the God of heaven. (Nehemiah 1:4)
9 Pray like this:
Our Father in heaven,
may your name be kept holy.
10 May your Kingdom come soon.
May your will be done on earth,
as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today the food we need,[a]
12 and forgive us our sins,
as we have forgiven those who sin against us.
13 And don’t let us yield to temptation,[b]
but rescue us from the evil one.[c]
14 “If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. 15 But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.
16 “And when you fast, don’t make it obvious, as the hypocrites do, for they try to look miserable and disheveled so people will admire them for their fasting. I tell you the truth, that is the only reward they will ever get. 17 But when you fast, comb your hair[d] and wash your face. 18 Then no one will notice that you are fasting, except your Father, who knows what you do in private. And your Father, who sees everything, will reward you. (Matthew 6:9-18)
