We find ourselves in a world where every part of our lives is affected by the newest predatory virus unleashed upon humanity. Sadly the Chinese let it loose, the politicians lied about it, the health experts continue to fumble it and the media hyped it to the max causing widespread fear and panic.

The real origins of Covid-19, other corona viruses, and every other malady and illness in the world can be traced back beyond recent or ever written history. When man and woman sinned in the utopian garden provided for them by God, sin entered into the world. Sin’s ultimate consequence is death (Romans 5)

As a result of the entrance of original sin into the world, death and illness have become a normal part of human experience. The Biblical account clearly states that that’s not the way it was supposed to be by God’s original design. (Genesis 1:31) Death and disease are a normal and natural part of life “under the sun,” or this side of eternity, according to Ecclesiastes [1:14, 3:1–2].

The “experts” are trying to be God in this epidemic. They are deciding, and then changing their minds over and over again, what is best for people. they are putting our lives on hold as they try to eradicate this virus, but to what detriment to our society? 40 million people are out of work, some with no job promised after the country reopens. Many people are missing regular check ups, diagnostics, and surgeries because the experts are acting as if there is only one health issue working against humanity.

No disrespect to the 100,000 who have allegedly died from this virus in the US, but we all die from something. According to CDC statistics, in the US annually, 655,00 will die from heart disease, 599,000 will die from cancer, 167,000 will die from accidents, 159,500 will die from respiratory disease, 148,000 will die from stroke, 122,000 will die from Alzheimer’s, 85,000 will die from diabetes, 59,000 will die from the flu, 51,300 will die from kidney disease, 48,000 will die from suicide, and 300,000 to 625,000 deaths will result from abortion.

Abortion clinics are not closed during this current lock down, but most other medical services outside the context of corona virus are closed. Cancer patients are not being diagnosed. Heart patients are not being treated. the list goes on ad-infinitum. This is man’s attempt to answer the problems caused by sin which brought disease. How many more suicides will occur because of loss of employment and money? Whose hard earned and invested retirement funds will be destroyed? How many will go undiagnosed, only to find a far worse state of health failure and more dire diagnosis at a later date?

Those who have hope in Christ have hope in this current and ever changing miasma with which we are faced. We can say with Paul, “to be absent from the body is to be present with Christ,” and “this momentary, light affliction is nothing compared to the matchless glory of meeting Christ.” God is in control.

Man cannot overcome this disease entirely. It has already mutated into two strains. Many diseases like measles, mumps, tuberculosis, and polio, that were supposedly cured previously, are reemerging as mutated strains that no longer respond to recommended and proven medical protocols.

As long as man is in the world, there will be disease and death in the world. The odds of dying from Covid-19 is .024% based on the most current data. The odds of dying is 100% because sin brought death into the world. Even though we all die, we have hope that a born again relationship with God provides for us eternity where there is no sickness, disease, sin or death.

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the old heaven and the old earth had disappeared. And the sea was also gone. 2 And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven like a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3 I heard a loud shout from the throne, saying, “Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them.[a] 4 He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.” 5 And the one sitting on the throne said, “Look, I am making everything new!”
(Revelation 21:1-5)
